Detached stone cottage in St Junien la Bregere

From thegoodaccommodationguide.com in Creuse, France

Delightful detached holiday cottage in St Junien la Brégère, a tranquil village near Bourganeuf, Département of Creuse, Limousin, Central France.

Built approximately 200 years ago, our cottage is ideal for two although can sleep four. It was sensitively renovated in 2006 and is especially popular with couples who are looking to buy their own home in France.

We are four hours from Paris, an hour from Limoges and just 20 minutes from Lac de Vassivière. We are also happy to take pets.

The cottage retains many original features, combining traditional French living with modern comforts. Suitable for occupancy all year round, the cottage is well-insulated and has electric heating throughout.

Set on three floors, the cottage opens into a spacious living and dining area, complete with a fully-fitted kitchen. The dining table seats four and there are two occasional chairs for watching television, which has UK TV and radio channels. The wood-burning cuisinière doubles as an oven.

On the first floor is the sitting room, with a double sofa bed, two armchairs, TV and a CD player. Next door is the bright, modern bathroom, with bathtub and shower over, WC and washbasin.
The spacious bedroom occupies the whole of the top floor, with ample hanging and storage space.

Towels and linen are provided, and we will send you a complete inventory with your booking confirmation.

Outside, the front of the cottage makes a sheltered sun-trap, with a south-west facing garden to the side. Guests can also use a larger garden two minutes from the cottage. Off-road parking is available opposite.

The Creuse will appeal especially to those who are fond of outdoor activities, especially watersports and fishing.

Access can be arranged to a private lake for fishing. There is also a tennis court for hire in St Junien la Bregere.

It's the perfect place to get away from stressful living, sample life in a small village and practise your French on our friendly neighbours!

Limoges Airport, about an hour away, is now the fourth largest in France, with direct flights from London Stansted, Southampton, East Midlands, Liverpool, Manchester and Newcastle.

We are in rural France, so car hire is recommended. Outside Limoges, the roads pleasantly quiet most of the year. From Limoges, take the N141 to Bourganeuf, and then the D940 towards Peyrat-le-Chateau. St Junien la Brégère is approximately five miles from Bourganeuf. We can provide a local map to show the way to our cottages when you book.

If you are travelling in your own vehicle, the journey takes around six hours from Caen in Brittany and around eight hours from the Channel ports.
