Mouriol Chambres d'Hotes

From thegoodaccommodationguide.com in Haute Vienne, France

A warm welcome awaits you in this quiet rural corner of the Perigord Limousin National Park. In our 18C renovated barn we have 2 large en suite rooms, well equipped and nicely furnished. The rooms open onto a large balcony with views of the countryside. 3 epis Gites de France and Gite Panda. You can enjoy our gardens and terraces for which we have been awarded a Diplome d'Honneur for the flowers, we have a salon, plenty of parking and offer evening meals by arrangement.

We have converted part of our 18th century barn into comfortable and generously proportioned Bed and Breakfast accommodation and have been rated 3 epis by Gites de France

We have 2 large bedrooms comfortably furnished in a style that combines the modern with the traditional. Each room is 6m x 6m including shower rooms and each has French windows leading on to the large shared balcony with views to the countryside beyond. The en-suite shower rooms with WC are roomy and we also provide all the linen you would need including freshly ironed sheets, duvets, pillows, blankets and towels. Each room is centrally heated and has tea and coffee making facilities, hair dryer, heated towel rail, fan, table and chairs.

The large east facing balcony overlooks our small hamlet to the beautiful Limousin countryside beyond and you can take advantage of this as we provide each room with a bistro style table and chairs for use on the balcony. Access to the rooms is from the patio and an outside staircase . . . we feel that this access does not lend the accomodation as being suitable for very young children or the disabled.

The whole of our property is non smoking.

Guests can have their breakfast or evening meals on the terrace or under the large shady pergola in our garden. In season this is decorated with climbing plants, planters and hanging baskets and has a pond, stocked with goldfish and is home to a few frogs (sometimes noisy) and dragon flies. It is the ideal place to take aperitifs before an evening's excursions.

How to travel:
This is a rural area and the best way to travel here is by car, either from the ports or using a hire car from the airports or train stations. Once here you can travel by foot, bike or even horse! The best ferry ports for direct travel are Calais and Caen and the ones in between . . . it takes about 7 hours by road. By air, we have Limoges airport 45 minutes drive, Poitiers and Bergerac airports, 2 hours drive and Bordeaux less than 3 hours drive. Air carriers, Air France, British Airways, Ryan Air, Flybee and BMI Baby all fly into France, some at really cheap rates. By train, Eurostar goes by TGV to Angouleme and SNCF to Limoges. Eurolines buses travel from London to Limoges. Hire cars are available from all of the airports and near to train stations.

Milhaguet is in the south west corner of the département of the Haute Vienne which is in the Limousin region of France. We are about 40 minutes drive from Limoges, 50 minutes from Angouleme and around an hour from Perigueux. Milhaguet can be found on the following maps:
The Yellow Michelin maps with a scale of 1:200000 (eg No72 Angouleme, Limoges, Gueret)
The blue Michelin Departementales for the Haute Vienne (4087) and the Dordogne (4024)
Milhaguet can be found on computer CDs like Autoroute and ViaMichelin and also on mapping websites. (you'll find a link to these on our Links page)

Mouriol is a tiny three house village, so you will only find us the IGN série bleu map for Saint Mathieu (1932 Ouest)
IGN also produce their maps on CD and you'll find us on 87SUD

How to locate Milhaguet on the map:
On large scale maps find the triangle made by Angouleme, Perigueux and Limoges.
Within that triangle find another smaller triangle Nontron, Rochechouart and Chalus and you should see St Mathieu and Marval. These last two villages are linked by the D67 and half way between the two you should find Milhaguet.
In Milhaguet, there is a church and opposite the church is the small départementale road marked D22A. This is signed to four hamlets and Mouriol is one of them and is about half a kilometre down that road. You will come to a right hand fork in the road, clearly signed to Mouriol and we are the first property that you come to and you'll see our Chambres d'Hotes sign.
