The famous landmark of Le Mont St. Michel,with its ancient monastery, is just 45 minutes away. It is a must for all tourists to the area, and is steeped in centuries of history. As well as the Monastery, there
are plenty of gift shops, museums and restaurants to visit.
The walled town of St Malo, and the fabulous Emerald coastline of Brittany, with its quiet beaches and unspoilt seaside resorts, is a little further. The sandy bays are ideal for a day at the seaside. Also in this area is the town of Cancale, famous for its seafood. Within a short drive away are the beautiful towns of Fougeres and Mayenne, as well as many other small typically French towns, steeped in centuries of history. Less than 10 minutes drive is the town of St Hilaire du Harcouet, which has a large colourful market every Wednesday. In November every year the town becomes the setting for the Fair of St Martin, when it takes on a carnival atmosphere for 4 days. Markets stalls of all sorts, and a large funfair adorn the town's streets.
To the North, are the beaches of the 1944 Normandy landings, and also the Bayeux Tapestry, celebrating the victory of William the Conqueror at the Battle of Hastings in 1066.
To the South, is the world famous racing circuit at Le Mans. A little further away are the picturesque chateaux and splendour of the Loire Region.
RELAXATION
For those that want a break from sightseeing, why not relax in a shaded corner of the large gardens, enjoy a cool drink on the terrace, or perhaps a spot of fishing down at the lake.
