La Maison du Curé

From thegoodaccommodationguide.com in Saône et Loire, France

La Maison du Curé is a stone built cottage from 1823 and was the home of the priests of Cormatin. It has been skilfully renovated whilst retaining many of the original features. It is in a quiet street not far from the entrance to the Chateau for which Cormatin is renowned.

Cormatin is a bustling village on the river Grosne with plenty of facilities including two restaurants, two boulangeries, a post office a grocer and a tabac. There is a thriving craft industry which exhibits in the old textile mill.

Taizé, the famous ecumenical centre, is only about 5 minutes away by car. There are three services a day at Taizé and holidaymakers are made most welcome. It is an fabulous experience to take part in the chanting, which originated in Taizé and has spread worldwide.

Cluny was the centre of the Church in the 11th century and you can still appreciate how spectacular the Abbey was. Many of the surrounding villages have well preserved Romanesque churches which have changed little since the 12th century.
